About the foundation
The mission of the Linnaeus Academy Research Foundation is to promote scientific research and education conducted at Linnaeus University.
The foundation was registered in 2008, initially under the name KAVN Research Foundation for Växjö University. When Linnaeus University was established, the foundation changed its name to the Linnaeus Academy Research Foundation. The work has always progressed step by step toward larger goals.
Thanks to a donation from Eivor and Gunnar Hallenblad in 2011, the research foundation was able to present its first award to support research in history, ethnology, and archaeology. In 2013, Småland Museum transferred a previous donation from Eivor and Gunnar Hallenblad to the research foundation to be managed in accordance with the 2011 donation. The award is distributed annually.
Thanks to a donation from Carola and Carl-Olof Ternryd, the foundation received its next major contribution in 2013. The Carola and Carl-Olof Ternryd Award is given for significant contributions to research in areas related to the forestry industry, with a connection to activities at Linnaeus University. The award is distributed every two years, with the first Ternryd Award being presented in 2016.
